What is process air technology used for?

Process air technology is a very versatile area of air technology. Central aspects are the conveying, filtering, drying and temperature control of air in process engineering processes.Conveying

Conveying

The core task of process air technology is the directed and continuous supply of air to products in manufacturing processes by means of conveying fans, as well as the transport of fibers and dust, for example. Various types of fans (e.g. axial, centrifugal or cross-flow fans) are used for this purpose, which convey the air through corresponding duct systems.

Filtering

One of the most important further objectives in process air technology is the filtering of solids such as dust, fibers, chips or granules from the air. This involves both the removal of pollutants and waste and the recovery of valuable raw materials that can be fed back into the production process.

Separation and compaction

However, in order to be able to dispose of or recycle filtered solids, they must first be separated. For larger particles and fibers, this is done using compactors, among other things, in which the separated solids are compacted in order to reduce the volume of the discharged material. Centrifugal separators (“cyclones”), which offer a high degree of separation and a sharp degree of separation, are used to separate fine particles from dusts

Drying and temperature control

Removing excess moisture from the air is essential in many industrial processes. In other manufacturing processes, however, the temperature control of products and the creation of homogeneous ambient conditions are of the utmost importance, e.g. in order to maintain a consistently high product quality. Process air technology systems are available for all these applications.

What is the difference between process air technology and ventilation technology?

While process air technology primarily focuses on the air technology for a product and its process engineering requirements during production, room air technology is concerned with supplying an area with fresh air and removing used air. In the case of ventilation and air-conditioning technology (HVAC), the focus is therefore on the well-being of people, whereas in the case of process air technology, the focus is primarily on technical processes.
